Sherlock, my dear: I miss you terribly. So soon. Too soon: We had what seems like now only a brief moment. But from that moment, I saw promise, as I know you did, as well. I had hoped to create something monumental from that wonderful respite from the ennui that had enveloped my life until an instant before we met. I carry every second of our time together in my heart. I will see you again. I know.

I have worked for many years in field of detection and investigation. During that time I have known many who profess to excel at the craft, and some who approach excellence, but there was only one Sherlock Holmes: In all aspects of his professional life, he was the master, and I had the very great privilege of associating with him many times and observing his methods and tactics. I will truly miss him for many reasons, not the least of which is his selfless assistance always at the ready.
